Sunday, July 27, 1980: This beautiful hat-and-shoes tree magically appeared in camp as things needed to dry out over night.
We had a big day ahead of us as we made our way downstream toward Lava Falls. We threw pennies to appease the gods at Vulcan's Anvil at Mile 178.5, which is the one-mile warning that you're getting close to Lava Falls.
At Lava Falls, we watched the other boat, two Diamond boats, and the three oar boats from our campsite the night before go through the rapids. Here is Kitch and Mike's boat, ...
... and here is Rewalt and Schmed's boat. These two photos were on the same roll of film so we must have handed off our camera to someone on the other boat after they went through in order to get a photo of us.
After running Lava Falls, we stopped at a small break area on some rock ledges.
Camp was at Mile 202. Jack, Marcia, Kelly, and Other Kathy's camp was at the right in this photo.
