Here is a collection of photos from the 4D Summit in Memphis, October 16 - 19, 2007.

Tuesday, October 16, 2007: We arrived in Memphis in the early afternoon. The famous Peabody Ducks were having a little nap in the fountain while we relaxed in the lobby waiting for our rooms to be ready.
I bought a round of mini mint juleps for the whole group, and everyone thought they were just as disgusting as I do.
The Orchard crew headed out for a very early dinner at the Rendezvous just up the street, where we filled up on ribs, beer, and sweet tea.
Of course, Orchy joined us for the feast.
Back at the Peabody Hotel, the Orchard contingent started to meet the 4D regulars.
The opening night 4D reception was held on the rooftop of the Peabody. We had perfect weather to enjoy the Memphis skyline.
Here are Gary, Lo, and Rob, representing the US, UK, and Netherlands, respectively.
And here are Tom and Dan.
As festivities wound down, we bade farewell to the Peabody to go out to celebrate Jeff's birthday.
It turns out that Beale Street is conveniently located just a few blocks away from the hotel ...
... and B. B. King's was Jeff's choice for a few birthday beverages.
Our little friend, Orchy, wished Jeff a happy birthday too.

Wednesday, October 17, 2007: The Summit officially opened on Wednesday morning with Brendan's keynote.
We were all here to get all the latest scoop on 4D v11 SQL, and Laurent et Laurent had lots of news to share.
After a full day of 4D news, we paused briefly to see the Peabody ducks make their twice-daily red carpet walk.
We saw Mike and Leah in the lobby before heading out to dinner at ...
... the Majestic Grille. It's a modern restaurant housed in the restored shell of an old movie theater.
Did we invite anyone to join us? No way! With a group of nine of us from Orchard Software, we can fill a private room pretty easily.
We didn't make it to Graceland on this trip, but we did pay tribute to the King briefly in the rain before dashing back to the hotel.
Strong warnings that mint juleps are not delicious went unheeded, so we sampled miniature juleps. Ewwww. Definitely not delicious.

Thursday, October 18, 2007: Here's David at breakfast on Thursday morning ...
... and here's a roomful of the 4D faithful at lunch on Thursday afternoon.
After a day filled with informative sessions, 4D treated us to an evening at the Gibson Guitar Factory.
Tours were available every half hour throughout the evening.
From our vantage point on the upper level, we had a great view of the main factory room.
Here are guitar bodies that have just been glued and are tightly bound while the glue dries.
Here's a rack of double neck guitars just lying around. No free samples were available at the end of the tour, which was a supreme disappointment to the frustrated guitar god wannabes in the group.
There was sawdust everywhere, and someone left a little reminder that we don't need guitars after all.
Back at the party, Rob, Lo, Wayne, Justin and Tamara were having plenty o' fun.
I crashed their party for a few minutes, and Wayne got this shot of Rob and me.
The US-based 4D crew were having their traditional Thursday evening toast.
Ruby Wilson and her band provided the evening's entertainment.
Or perhaps it was provided by those of us brave enough to get out on the dance floor.
When the band came out for their second set, we decided to head out to a quieter location. Quiet was elusive on Beale Street, so we found what we were looking for at this little bar in the Peabody Place complex adjacent to the hotel.
The first order of business was to have a round of Irish Car Bombs. First timers and veterans alike found them to be delicious.
Brian was good enough to show Phil the steps required to assemble the drink. Although there are some who insist on pouring their shot into the glass of Guinness (see above), Brian knows that the correct technique is to drop the shot glass into the beer glass.
If you're wondering who the lovely lady was with Brian, it's his girlfriend (now wife) Ann.

Friday, October 19, 2007: Friday morning came too early, as usual. But the Orchard early birds headed over to Denny's for a fantastic start to the last day of the conference. Mmmm, bacon.
I got some parting shots of the hotel between sessions on Friday morning, including the Lansky Brothers shop where I bought a shirt for my husband from Mr. Bernard Lansky himself.
Ah, yes, the ducks. By day four, the twice-daily crowds were starting to get a little old. Matt Dillon was right.
John Baughman's Tips and Tricks class is always useful, so we all attended his session.
Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you the Orchard Software 4D development team! Back row (l-r): Drew, Bobby, Rich, John. Front row (l-r): Jeff, Spencer, Eric, Tim. Not shown: Debbie (behind camera) and John M. (back at the office doing actual work). We enjoyed a quick beverage at Peabody Place between sessions.
At the final keynote, we were treated to more of Omid's terrific graphics. This was one of my favorites, featuring a photo from Tuesday night. It first showed up in sessions on Wednesday morning, so I'm convinced he gets no sleep during Summit week.
Brendan started his wrap up comments with a few awards. Jeff and I were thrilled to accept an award for Orchard Software, and since I didn't get a photo of it, I'll show you David's well-deserved award announcement instead.
Brendan called the US-based 4D team up to thank them for their efforts. As always, they did a terrific job during a busy, hectic week.
We had to rush out of the final session to catch our shuttle, and we passed Sun Studio on the way to the airport.
Since we didn't have time to stop, we had to settle for a quick dinner in the VIP Room at the Sun Studio Cafe at the airport instead, ...
... which I'm pretty sure is bigger than the actual studio itself.
As usual, JC took a mysterious phone call so we thoughtfully helped him have a private conversation.
