Day 1 - Hong Kong |
Sunday, March 25, 2012: We departed Indy on Saturday morning, then flew direct from Chicago to Hong Kong. Our route took us over the East Siberian Sea, with its giant icebergs, ... |
|
... then over actual Siberia, which is a frozen land of snow and iced-over lakes and rivers.
The handy inflight tracking system showed us what we were seeing out our window.
After over 15 hours of flying, we arrived at the Hong Kong airport, exchanged currency, and took the free hotel shuttle to the Citygate area a few minutes from the airport, home of one of our all-time favorite hotels, the Novotel Hong Kong Citygate, where we stayed in April 2008.
The interior hallways are beautiful, with rooms set off the hallway at an angle.
We got a room on the Executive Premier Floor this time.
Like the smaller room we stayed in last time, the bathroom features lots of glass, a trend we saw several times during our trip.
There were some treats waiting for us, but we saved them for after dinner ...
... in the Premier Lounge, where a delicious free buffet and beers awaited us.
Ah, yes, here's the Citygate view we have missed. |
