Cleveland April 2019: [Day 1] [Day 2] [Day 3]

Friday, April 12, 2019: To avoid Friday afternoon Indy traffic, we drove through Fortville after Debbie picked up Tom from work. We had intended to see Elite Beverages several years ago, but hadn't made it until now. It was under construction, so its famous martini-holding pink elephant wasn't around.
Fortunately, we had learned where it was temporarily located during construction. This was our third pink elephant in three months of travels (including Springfield, Illinois, and DeForest, Wisconsin), so it is now officially a collection. Sigh.
Oooh, this is a pretty home in the Indiana countryside.
The drive toward Richmond, Indiana, always features lots of RV ads. The current ones are pretty great, since they remind us of places we've been, such as Mount Rushmore ...
... and the Smoky Mountains.
The Ohio arch welcomed us.
It was after 5:30 when we arrived in Dayton, which features this great moon landing artwork on its freeway walls. That's the Apollo command module on the left and the lunar lander on the right, with the surface of the moon just visible behind the Meijer truck.
We had dinner with Tom's mom at O'Charley's but didn't take a single photo. So this photo of us following her on the freeway as we went our separate ways will have to do.
There was a cool sunset as we passed Columbus, ...
... and it lit up the downtown buildings in the distance, ...
... and office buildings closer to us.
The Budweiser plant was looking especially lovely in the pink light.
God Bless America.
If there's an IKEA, there's probably a Top Golf nearby. See if you can spot it.
We stopped for a quick hot fudge sundae and McFlurry at McDonald's.
We passed the NASA Glenn Research Center and swore to return one day when we had enough time to book one of their popular tours well in advance.
It was after 10:00 PM when we arrived at the Super 8 in Westlake, Ohio.
The lobby sign was welcoming, and the front staff was even more so. Check out that carnation in the lower left corner of this poster. Did you know that it is the state flower of Ohio? We didn't either until this very weekend.

Our bargain-priced room was large and comfortable.
