Friday, July 20, 2018: We left Indy at 2:30 to get ahead of some approaching thunderstorms, and we were at the Kentucky border before 5:00 PM. We finally got to use our one-year-old RiverLink EZ Pass transponder for the first time as we crossed the bridge. |
There's downtown Louisville. |
And just like that, we're in Bourbon Country. There's a building-height sign for Angel's Envy bourbon. |
There were signs around town with famous Louisville residents. Here's Diane Sawyer. Her sign said, "Diane's Louisville." |
These signs pictured Kleinert and Kutz, who are Louisville doctors. |
Colonel Sanders' sign read, "Kentucky's Colonel." |
South of Louisville are lots of flea markets. This one is The Most Awesome Flea Market in the World. Bold claim, but who are we to question it? |
Aw, man, we just missed Dinosaur World! |
We present to you the scenic rolling hills of Kentucky. |
We spotted a WKU license plate as we approached Bowling Green. Go Big Red! |
Debbie took her daily photo of her shingles, freshly contracted less than a week earlier. Ewwww. Fortunately, it's a mild case and easily covered up with large blister bandages. |
Here's the Corvette plant in Bowling Green, just north of the Corvette Museum. |
Tennessee Welcomes You! |
This traffic jam was clearly caused by something fire-related. |
Wow, the owner of this RV was having a bad day. The entire back end was just a huge charred mess. |
We saw a lovely rainbow as we headed toward Hendersonville, Tennessee. |
We could be wrong, but it seemed that the rainbow's end was located at the Black-eyed Pea. |
There's the pot of gold: a table full of delicious Black-eyed Pea specialties: rolls, corn bread, fried okra, mashed potatoes, meatloaf, pot roast, green beans, and broccoli rice casserole. |
Debbie's got a mouthful of fried okra, so she's in her happy place. |
Less than a half hour after arriving, we had finished eating and were on our way. We're efficient that way. |
There's downtown Nashville in the fading light. |
Ooooh, pretty. |
Our destination for the evening was Murfreesboro, home of this Chicago-style gyros place. We didn't even know there was such a thing as Chicago-style gyros, but we were too full to try it. |
We checked into the Rodeway Inn, ... |
... and went straight to sleep, because we had a big day ahead of us.
