Monday, June 28, 2004: Tom woke late this morning and asked Debbie what she was looking at while she stood on the balcony. "Oh, just a container port." In a flash, he was out of bed, but it was too late -- Debbie won "Maersk" in the port of Livorno. From Livorno, day trips to Pisa and/or Florence are available.

Since neither of us had any interest in making the trip to Florence, we took a shorter trip to Pisa instead. The Field of Miracles is a large grass lawn with several buildings on it, including this church ...
... and this cool dome-topped building. What are their names? We don't know. Look it up elsewhere if you're curious.
The Field of Miracles is edged by streets of souvenir shops, gelato stands, and aggressive street vendors. We took home a tiny leaning tower and had some ice cream.

It would all be a little too much if it wasn't for this beauty -- the Leaning Tower of Pisa. It is amazing to see, and nearly impossible to photograph without unconsciously turning the camera to be parallel with the building. Our first two photo attempts included only the tower, straight up and down, so we had to try again, this time, including the church next to it for reference.
