New England 2009: [Rhode Island] [Connecticut] [Vermont] [Quebec] [Maine] [New Hampshire] [Massachusetts]

Saturday, November 28, 2009: Massachusetts Welcomes STATE HIGHWAY BEGINS You.
We braved Boston traffic just long enough to park by the USS Constitution Museum. That's the Bunker Hill monument in the distance.
We bought our trolley tickets - here it comes! We had limited time, so we decided to take a 2 1/2 trolley tour of the city.
We passed a park that probably had a name ...
... and crossed over where one part of the Big Dig comes out ...
... and headed into historic Boston. Tom had never been in Boston proper before.
We passed the Old North Church ...
... and Boston Common.
We crossed the Charles River for a quick look at Cambridge ...
... and passed the Cheers Bar.
There were streets filled with shops ...
... and the Prudential Center with its giant gold ornament.
At the end of our tour, we had time left to tour the USS Constitution, AKA Old Ironsides.
Look up!
Look down!
This narrow brick line marks the Freedom Trail, a 2 1/2 mile path through Boston that passes many of Boston's historic landmarks. If we were more into history, this would be awesome ...
... but since we prefer food instead, this is!

The good folks at Legal Test Kitchen at Logan Airport served up our last meal of the trip -- a half dozen oysters and yet another lobster roll for Debbie, chowder and gumbo for Tom, and an order of delicious Boston cream pie to go.
