Thursday, January 24, 2013: After heading south all
night, we woke to find that we were finally heading west past
the bottom of Panama. We had turned back our clocks one hour so we got a long night's sleep.
|
 |
Here is one of the southern Panamanian islands we passed. |
 |
Our cabin steward had left us a towel animal in the shape of
a rabbit the night before, and we finally got around to taking
a photo of him. |
 |
We love galley tours, so we showed up right on time for the
tour, only to find that we were going to be in group 30. A
glass of champagne ... |
 |
... and an introduction of the food staff helped to pass the
time. As groups were called in one at a time, questions from
the audience regarding the food service were answered. |
 |
Right around group 20, nearly an hour later, we were added to
a group that had some openings and our tour began. |
 |
We watched this gentleman plate a series of pecan pie
slices. |
 |
This wall was filled with the plating diagrams and
ingredients for all of the plated desserts. This would make
excellent wallpaper for any home. |
 |
Next up, the dishwashing room. Every galley tour shows this
room and it is always unstaffed. When, exactly, do the dishes
get washed? |
 |
This photo is for Tom. Trays and trays of cheesecake just
waiting for some exotic topping. |
 |
The dinner wall showed plating requirements for appetizers,
soups, and entrees. The first week's menu was currently posted,
and we spotted some of the dishes we had already enjoyed. |
 |
We had an extremely talkative, boring tour guide so it was a
very uninteresting tour, and we could see groups bunched up
behind us. We followed a fellow guest out a back door shortly
after this, so we never saw the tour ending through the Murano
Restaurant. |
 |
It was formal night, so Debbie got dressed up in a
black-and-white outfit to match Tom's tuxedo, ... |
 |
... and we headed out to the Grand Restaurant on deck
five.
