Wednesday, January 27, 2021: Near dawn, we snapped a picture of the world outside. We really enjoyed sleeping with the back windows open.
Then we fell right back asleep for another two hours.
It was an overcast day, so we didn't hold out much hope that there would be a launch.
But with no neighbors on either side of us, we looked forward to another leisurely day.
We harvested the last of Annette Fungicello to add to our freeze-dried breakfast scramble.
The high winds the night before had left a gap in our back door, ...
... so Tom spent some time getting that worked out. He's handy.
Next, it was time to empty the cassette toilet. Yep, that's it. A small plastic briefcase that empties right into the RV dump site.
We ordered lunch to go from the onsite restaurant and walked over to pick it up.
We took a look out over the water. What's this?
Can we actually be seeing the SpaceX headquarters across the water?
Yesssss! And there's the top of Starship SN9!
As an added bonus, we found another sand castle near the restaurant.
Tom braved the masses inside to get our food and we headed back to our little utopia to eat it.
Mmmmm, delicious deep-fried seafood, washed down with ice-cold Crystal Light!
By the middle of the afternoon, the clouds were moving away, ...
... and we were the only ones in our entire five-spot section of the park!
We made a quick trip to the RV dump site to empty our gray water tank, ...
... then went to the KOA office to extend our stay one more day. We checked out the view while we were there, then Debbie got a text from Jill that she needed to get on her computer to answer, so we headed back.
Soon, it was cocktail hour featuring Crystal Light and a miniature bottle of rum from a long ago vacation.
Near sunset, we headed out ...
... and walked down to the dock to enjoy it.
There's Debbie ...
... and there's Tom.
Ooooh, pretty.
Meanwhile, the nearly-full moon was coming up.
Beautiful, isn't it?
Dinner this evening was a little strange - we made a cup of instant mac & cheese, and combined it with cubed ham we brought from home plus a container of mac & cheese from Black-eyed Pea.
Add some powdered milk and you have a satisfying meal!
Movie night's feature was "Cold Comfort Farm," another long-time favorite of ours.
As we got ready for bed, the moon was shining through the skylight, ...
... and the lights along the shore lit up the night.
