Milwaukee 2016: [Day 1 - Friday] [Day 2 - Saturday] [Day 3 - Sunday] [Day 4 - Monday]

Monday, September 5, 2016: It was still perfect weather when we left Milwaukee. We left too early to visit the Mars Cheese Castle, but we took a picture of it as we zoomed past.
Instead, we tried to take care of all of our cheese needs at the Brat Stop in Kenosha. We bought a slice of Kringle, some of the delicious cranberry white cheddar and Bellavitano raspberry cheeses we loved and the New Glarus Raspberry Tart ale to go with it, plus three different Usinger sausages (including a berry version and an elk version) and a bottle of Sprecher strawberry soda for the road. We finished this stop with another delicious drive-through breakfast from White Castle.
Another 10 minutes down the road, we got a call that we had left Debbie's travel purse back in Milwaukee at the hotel, so we drove all the way back. This time, the Mars Cheese Castle was open, so we went in and loaded up on some Frontier soup mixes and some Lakefront Brewery Howard Helles Lager for Debbie's colleague.
Our next stop was a drive past one of Debbie's other grandparents' first homes. The Schillings lived in several different Chicago suburbs during the first few years of their marriage, and this Brookfield home was one of their addresses.
We decided to mix it up a little and go to the Bolingbrook IKEA instead of the Schaumburg IKEA like we normally do when we are driving through Chicago. According to Google Maps, it saved us about 5 minutes of driving so that's nice.
This always seems to happen when we go to IKEA.
Fortunately, our van is large and highly configurable.
We headed to Three Floyds Brewing in Munster, Indiana. Imagine how great it would have been if their website had noted that they were closed for Labor Day. Oh, well, now we can say that we've been there. We ended up going to Burger King for lunch instead, where Debbie tried the limited edition Whopper burrito, a strange but delicious change of pace.
Our final stop was the Albanese Candy Factory in Merrillville, Indiana.

Here it is. It was very, very crowded so we browsed and left quickly and were home again in no time.

** THE END **
